Seven ANZ Startups Raise $274.7 Million
Heidi, an AI-powered healthcare platform, closed a $140 million Series C led by Blackbird, with Phoenix Court, Point72 Private Investments, and Headline contributing. The round values the business at $1.26 billion, pushing it into unicorn territory.
The raise is part of a broader $475 million capital package. Co-founders Yu Liu, Dr Thomas Kelly, and Waleed Mussa are backing the platform's global expansion.
Six other startups rounded out the week: Amber, HEO Robotics, Kinoxis Therapeutics, OpenDebt, RentBetter, and Medcast collectively raised $134.7 million across medtech, proptech, and fintech.
Market Context
ANZ startups raised $610 million in the September quarter, with AI and infrastructure deals driving the largest rounds. Hammertech's $105 million raise was the quarter's biggest single transaction, while Buildkite closed a $21 million convertible note in January.
The funding mix is concentrated in software and AI-adjacent categories. Investors are backing B2B enterprise software, safety tech, and applied AI plays. The numbers suggest ANZ's larger Series B and C rounds are landing in categories where go-to-market execution and customer acquisition matter.
What This Means for Sales Teams
Heidi's unicorn valuation typically signals expansion hiring. Series C companies often scale from 2-5 AEs to 15-20 within 12 months. Expect roles across SDR, AE, and enterprise segments as the business enters new markets.
The other six companies are earlier-stage but represent sectors where sales talent is in demand: developer tools, medtech, and fintech. If historical patterns hold, these raises mean 3-8 sales hires per company over the next two quarters.
Watch for comp disclosures. ANZ enterprise AE OTE for Series B and C companies typically sits between $150k-$200k, 15-30% below US benchmarks. Series C roles often come with equity packages worth tracking.
The broader September quarter data shows momentum in software and AI, which means territory carve-outs, new patches, and ramp periods are getting attention from CROs. If you are in mid-market or enterprise, this funding wave matters.
