ServiceTitan pulled the plug on Podium's integration, giving roughly 1,000 shared customers 30 days to migrate. Peak HVAC season. Nine-year partnership. Done.
ServiceTitan CEO Ara Mahdessian says they offered Podium a spot in their certified partner programme under new terms. Podium did not move forward. Podium CEO Eric Rea says ServiceTitan shut them out because Podium's AI agents now threaten the core business.
Both are right. This is not a partner dispute. This is what platform competition looks like in 2026.
The Stack
ServiceTitan is the system of record for trades: scheduling, dispatch, pricing, invoicing. Base $961 million revenue, up 24% year over year. They serve 7,500 contractor businesses. Pricing is per technician per month.
Podium started as the communications layer: the phone number on the truck, texting, webchat, review requests. The marketing wrapper around ServiceTitan's core workflow. Total funding roughly $420 million, headcount around 1,300 to 1,500.
That worked until Podium's AI agents got good enough to handle scheduling, lead qualification, and payment collection without touching ServiceTitan's system.
What Changed
Podium built agents that do the work, not just route the messages. An HVAC company owner told Rea this week: "There is no competitor to ServiceTitan until the demo I saw from you guys today."
That demo is why the integration is gone. When your front-office layer can book jobs, qualify leads, and process payments, you are not a partner anymore. You are competing for the same budget.
ServiceTitan saw it coming. Their marketplace now has stricter certification terms, likely designed to prevent exactly this scenario: a messaging layer turning into a lightweight workflow system.
What It Means for Sales Teams
If you sell into trades or field service businesses, watch this space. ServiceTitan has alternatives in the marketplace: Jobber, Housecall Pro, and others building similar AI features. The question is whether those platforms let partners get too capable before pulling the same move.
For the 1,000 shared customers, this is a migration project in the middle of their busiest season. Podium says they are building direct integrations to help. ServiceTitan says certified partners are available.
The real story: AI agents are collapsing software categories faster than partnership agreements can adapt. The front office and back office used to be separate problems. Not anymore.
