Sendle brand acquired 7 months after collapse, restart planned
Logistics operator Andrew McKenna has acquired the Sendle brand, trademarks, and domain name seven months after the shipping platform collapsed. Deal value was not disclosed.
McKenna, who runs McKenna Worldwide Services and Quantium Solutions Australia, announced the purchase at the Online Retailer Conference & Expo in Sydney this week. The company is planning a restart, though details on operations, sales team structure, and go-to-market strategy were not provided.
Sendle shut down in January 2026 after a failed three-way merger between Sendle, FirstMile, and ACI Logistix under parent company FAST Group. The Sydney-based platform had raised more than $100 million over 12 years, positioning itself as a carbon-neutral alternative to Australia Post for SMB ecommerce shipping.
The original business acted as a middleman between small businesses and carriers like Aramex and Couriers Please. It operated in Australia, the US, and Canada, competing against logistics platforms including Shippo and Easyship for SMB shipping volume.
What this means for sales teams
No information yet on sales headcount, territory structure, or leadership hires. The original Sendle competed on price and carbon-neutral positioning, which typically means volume plays and channel partnerships rather than enterprise direct sales.
For reps selling shipping software or logistics platforms, this is a brand restart with existing customer awareness but zero current operations. Former Sendle customers have been using alternatives for seven months. McKenna's statement referenced "extraordinary" response from former customers, but that does not equal signed contracts or rebuilt integrations.
Worth noting: Sendle raised over $100 million and still shut down. A brand acquisition does not mean the unit economics that killed the original business have changed. If you are evaluating this as a role or a competitor, ask about funding, burn rate, and what actually changes in the business model.
McKenna said the company is "committed to delivering" reliable shipping as it rebuilds. No timeline, no comp structure, no team size. Just a brand acquisition and a conference announcement.
