The Number
Linear reported this week that agents now create 50% of work items in its issue-tracking platform, up from 3% a year ago. Agents are installed in 95% of paid workspaces. Issues with a pull request attached by engineering, product, or design grew 7x since January 2026.
That is twelve months from rounding error to half the data going into the system. Not logins, not feature engagement. Actual work creation.
Why This Matters for Sales
Linear's customer base skews heavily toward software teams building AI products: OpenAI, Cursor, Cognition, Harvey. These are the companies your prospects benchmark against. When 50% of their work items come from agents, that changes how they think about productivity tooling, workflow automation, and headcount planning.
If you are selling into product or engineering teams, your buyers are already running agent-first workflows or evaluating them. The composition of their work is shifting faster than most sales orgs have adapted their pitch.
What Atlassian Said Instead
Atlassian reported Jira work items generated through their MCP server up nearly 4x quarter over quarter, with monthly active users surpassing 1 million. They published a growth rate, not a composition figure. Growth rates are easier to report when the base is small.
Atlassian also noted 98% of MCP users were active in the Jira UI that same month. Agents are not replacing humans in the system of record. They are increasing volume. MCP adopters expand paid seats faster and grow ARR at 2x the rate of non-adopters.
The Linear Model
Linear closed a $99 million secondary at $2.5 billion valuation in 2026, double its $1.25 billion Series C valuation from June 2025. No primary capital raised. The company is cash-flow positive with more cash than it has ever raised. Public estimates put ARR between $75 million and $100 million, with headcount reported between 141 and 271 depending on source and date.
That is high-efficiency SaaS. Product-led growth, lean sales motion, strong pricing power. No visible enterprise sales team in public reporting. The growth story is adoption and retention, not quota-carrying reps.
What Agents Mean for Pipeline
If your product integrates with issue trackers, your API usage is about to spike. If you sell productivity tools, your buyers are comparing you to systems where agents handle half the work creation. If you are prospecting into software teams, ask how they are using agents in their workflow. That answer tells you where their budget is going.
The companies building agents are deploying them hardest internally. Your customers will get there later. They will still get there.
