Your B2B Sales Tech Stack Is Useless If Your Delivery Can't Keep Up

ANZ companies are closing deals their operations can't actually fulfil, and it's about to become your quota problem.

Here's what nobody wants to say out loud: ANZ B2B sales teams are writing cheques their companies can't cash.

You're selling enterprise software with "seamless integration" to clients who still can't get reliable internet in half their offices. You're promising 24/7 support when your customer success team logs off at 5pm AEDT and your clients in Perth are three hours behind. You're demoing slick e-commerce platforms to businesses that can't figure out how to ship products across the Tasman without a two-week lead time.

The dirty secret? Your churn problem isn't a sales problem. It's an operations problem that sales is being forced to solve.

Every AE in ANZ knows the pattern: close the deal, hit your number, then spend the next quarter firefighting implementation issues because the product team never actually tested it on Australian internet speeds. Or the logistics team "didn't realise" the client had offices in Auckland. Or customer success is stretched so thin they're responding to tickets three days late.

This is why your renewal rates are trash even when your close rates look good. This is why your best accounts keep churning after 18 months. This is why you're spending more time doing customer success work than actual selling.

And here's the kicker: leadership keeps hiring more AEs instead of fixing the underlying delivery problems. They think it's a pipeline issue when it's actually a retention crisis waiting to destroy your comp plan.

The ANZ market is small enough that word gets around fast. When three companies in the same vertical have the same implementation nightmare, that entire segment goes cold. Your reputation travels faster than your quota relief.

So what do you do? Start asking hard questions in the interview: What's the average implementation time? What's customer success headcount versus sales headcount? What percentage of deals actually go live on schedule? If they can't answer or they dodge, that's your sign.

Because in 2025, the best sales job in ANZ isn't the one with the highest OTE. It's the one where what you sell actually gets delivered.

Your quota depends on it.
